Martin Tabraham is an extraordinary musician. A true multi-instrumentalist who made every instrument he played sound natural and musical. David, the author, met him as part of a Nottingham based band, "Sticky Willie" (slang for goosegrass of course) back in the 1980s. He was playing banjo, guitar, Low Whistle, and even bagpipes.
His Low Whistle playing like his singling has beautiful phrasing and passion. He is a superb slow air player, and used the instrument in the recording he made with the trio Wheezle and in various ceilidh bands with which he mostly played the bass guitar...rather well!
His session playing was excellent, and it was there the Low Whistle was ever present, finding lines around the tune.
